Mbanza-Ngungu Caves: Finzolua Ndombolozi
Network of natural caves in Mbanza-Ngungu, Kongo Central, discovered in 1915. Home to an endemic blind fish unique in the world. Only Finzolua is open to visitors.
Mbudi Nature — Mont-Ngafula, Kinshasa
Tourist park in the Lutendele neighborhood, commune of Mont-Ngafula. Panoramic views over the Congo river rapids, around twenty statues, barbecue, basketball.
Kisantu Botanical Garden — Kongo Central
One of the oldest botanical gardens in central Africa: 225 ha, more than 3,000 species. Founded in 1900 by Brother Justin Gillet in Kisantu, Kongo Central.
Symphonies Naturelles — Primary forest in Ngaliema, Kinshasa
200 hectares of primary forest in Ngaliema, one of the last intact natural spaces in Kinshasa. Hiking, caves, ponds, cultural activities. Open weekends.
Kinshasa Botanical Garden — Gombe
7-hectare garden founded in 1933 at the junction of Kasa-Vubu and Rwakadingi avenues, Gombe. Around 100 Congolese tree species, educational walks and a quiet retreat.
Bombo Lumene — Maluku, Kinshasa
Hunting domain and nature reserve covering 350,000 ha, 130 km from Kinshasa, on the former dune system of the Bateke Plateau. Savanna, gallery forest, varied wildlife.
Lola ya Bonobo — Bonobo sanctuary, Kimwenza
The only bonobo sanctuary open to the public in the world. 30 hectares of forest in Kimwenza, Mont-Ngafula. Guided visits Tuesday to Sunday, 20 km from Kinshasa.
Kinshasa Zoological Garden — Gombe
Wildlife park in Kinshasa Gombe with more than 5,000 animals. Rehabilitation under way since July 2021. Educational focus on the fauna of the DRC.
Amani Eco Park — Mont-Ngafula, Route de Matadi
New eco-resort in the Mitendi neighbourhood, commune of Mont-Ngafula. Mini-safari, playground, dining and accommodation in a natural setting. Entrance $10. Open Friday to Sunday and public holidays.
