Lac Cemka was a leisure site in the Kimwenza neighbourhood, commune of Mont-Ngafula in Kinshasa. It occupied a peaceful lakeside setting with views over the surrounding countryside — less busy than the neighbouring Lac Ma Vallée, but appreciated by families for its walks and restaurant.
What it offered
Paths around the lake, an on-site restaurant, and boat excursions to the Catholic church of Sainte-Marie de Kimwenza — which holds artworks and a map of Kinshasa's parishes. A quiet alternative to the busier sites in the commune of Mont-Ngafula.
Currently closed
The site is now closed to tourism. It serves as a pilgrimage and prayer site. This page is listed here for visitors who may still be looking for it.
If you want a nature outing in the same commune, Lola ya Bonobo in Kimwenza is open Tuesday to Sunday — the only bonobo sanctuary open to the public in the world. Africa Park Aventure (formerly Lac Ma Vallée) is also in the area.
