Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs Cathedral — Kisantu
The largest cathedral in Congo, 120 km from Kinshasa in Kongo Central province. Tuscan architecture, octagonal dome, restored in 2011.
Nganda Yalha — Nsele River, Kinshasa
A riverside recreation site on the Nsele with thatched huts, canoes, swimming and well-regarded local food. Capacity 300 people. Accommodation available. 38 km from Gombe.
Mona Paradis — Ndjili Brasserie, Kinshasa
A 120-hectare agro-pastoral estate at Ndjili. Botanical garden with 12,000 trees, a beach on the Ndjili River, livestock, food on site. Unpaved access road.
The Limete Interchange — Kinshasa
210 m reinforced concrete tower at the intersection of Boulevard Lumumba and Avenue By-Pass in Limete. Built between 1970 and 1974, an architectural landmark of Kinshasa.
Nsele Valley Park — Maluku, Kinshasa
20,000-hectare reserve 50 km from Kinshasa. Lion-giraffe-zebra safari, the longest zip line in Central Africa (2.3 km), kayak, luxury lodges. Open Friday–Sunday.
Mbanza-Ngungu Caves: Finzolua Ndombolozi
Network of natural caves in Mbanza-Ngungu, Kongo Central, discovered in 1915. Home to an endemic blind fish unique in the world. Only Finzolua is open to visitors.
Mbudi Nature — Mont-Ngafula, Kinshasa
Tourist park in the Lutendele neighborhood, commune of Mont-Ngafula. Panoramic views over the Congo river rapids, around twenty statues, barbecue, basketball.
Africa Park Aventure — Kimwenza, Mont-Ngafula (formerly Lac Ma Vallée)
DRC's first multi-adventure park in Kimwenza. Zip line, kayak, archery, climbing, canopy. Open Friday–Sunday. Entry $5, all activities $50. 26 km from Gombe.
Immeuble Forescom — Place des Travailleurs, Kinshasa
The first building constructed in the DRC, on what is now the Place des Travailleurs in Kinshasa Gombe. Ocean liner-style architecture on a triangular plot at the river's edge.
Kisantu Botanical Garden — Kongo Central
One of the oldest botanical gardens in central Africa: 225 ha, more than 3,000 species. Founded in 1900 by Brother Justin Gillet in Kisantu, Kongo Central.
Congo Loisirs — Lingwala, Kinshasa
Leisure park in Lingwala, 4 km from Gombe. Karting, trampolines, Le Yayo restaurant (Congolese cuisine) and events hall for 1,000 people. Open Tue–Sun 12:00–18:00.
La Sablière — Mombele, Nsele, Kinshasa
Pools, jet-ski, river swimming and a restaurant on the Nsele. One of Kinshasa's best-equipped spots for a full day out with family or friends.
Jardin d'Eden — Kindobo, Nsele, Kinshasa
Leisure, dining and accommodation on the Nsele river. A 16 ha island accessible by pirogue, hotel with 23 apartments, Le Malangwa restaurant. Open every day until 22:00.
Pont Maréchal of Matadi — Kongo Central
Suspension bridge of 722 m over the Congo river at Matadi, inaugurated on 20 May 1983. 53 m high, 2nd in Africa behind Maputo-Catembe, 68th worldwide.
Symphonie des Arts — Ngaliema, Kinshasa
Art gallery and botanical retreat in Kinshasa Ngaliema for over 40 years. Paintings, bronze sculptures, ceramics and wood. Tropical garden with peacocks and fountains.
Symphonies Naturelles — Primary forest in Ngaliema, Kinshasa
200 hectares of primary forest in Ngaliema, one of the last intact natural spaces in Kinshasa. Hiking, caves, ponds, cultural activities. Open weekends.
Sunset — Kinsuka-Pêcheur, Ngaliema, Kinshasa
Leisure centre on the bank of the Congo River in Kinsuka-Pêcheur, Ngaliema. Infinity pool, Congolese restaurant, weekend concerts. Entry $7. 16 km from Gombe.
Kinshasa Botanical Garden — Gombe
7-hectare garden founded in 1933 at the junction of Kasa-Vubu and Rwakadingi avenues, Gombe. Around 100 Congolese tree species, educational walks and a quiet retreat.
Mfuti Plage — Lutendele, Ngaliema, Kinshasa
White sandy beach and rocks on the Congo River, 30 km from central Kinshasa. Hiking in the surrounding hills. Swimming not advised (strong current). 4x4 required.
Bombo Lumene — Maluku, Kinshasa
Hunting domain and nature reserve covering 350,000 ha, 130 km from Kinshasa, on the former dune system of the Bateke Plateau. Savanna, gallery forest, varied wildlife.
Kinshasa Zoological Garden — Gombe
Wildlife park in Kinshasa Gombe with more than 5,000 animals. Rehabilitation under way since July 2021. Educational focus on the fauna of the DRC.
Texaf Bilembo — Kinshasa Gombe
Cultural and artistic space in a former textile factory of over 1,000 m² in Kinshasa Gombe. Art gallery, educational workshops, café, restaurant and library on Congo.
Académie des Beaux-Arts — Kinshasa Gombe
Visual arts teaching institute founded in 1943 in Kinshasa Gombe. Painting, ceramics, metalwork, advertising, interior design. Sculptures, oil paintings and exhibitions on site.
Kwilu Bar — Gombe, Kinshasa (Closed)
Kinshasa's first upscale open-air venue, at 3 Avenue De La Justice, Gombe. Kwilu rum cocktails, tropical jazz, afro-reggae. Closed since the 2010s.
Lac Cemka — Kimwenza, Mont-Ngafula (Closed)
Former lakeside leisure site in Kimwenza, Mont-Ngafula. Walking trails, restaurant, boat excursions to Sainte-Marie church. Closed to the public, now a pilgrimage site.
