Kinshasa Treasure Hunt — Kino Congo urban scavenger hunt, Summer 2026 Edition

Kinshasa Treasure Hunt is Kino Congo's urban scavenger hunt. For this first edition, 9 teams of 6 players will each have one Wednesday to explore Kinshasa, solve the puzzles and post their time on the summer leaderboard. One course, nine chances to win, one podium at stake.

The concept

One afternoon, six teammates, three smartphones — and three distinct roles. Each team assigns a Timekeeper (manages the clock and submits checkpoint photos), a Navigator (map, route, reading the terrain) and a Team Captain (receives the clues and validates the answers). No one is a passenger: everyone has a mission, and coordination between the three is what wins the race.

The meeting point is revealed to your team 48 hours before the outing — the first element of the mystery. At the appointed time, you receive the first puzzle via our web platform: solve it to unlock the next checkpoint. Photo taken on site, submitted via the app, next puzzle. And so on, across Kinshasa.

The course is identical for all nine teams — that is what makes the leaderboard real. Your time is not measured against an abstract standard, but against the times of the other teams who took on exactly the same challenge. Every Wednesday in July and August, a new team joins the board. At the end of the summer, the fastest team takes the title — and the grand prize.

How a session runs

12h00 — Meet at the point revealed the day before. Quick briefing, role assignment, signing of the confidentiality agreement, handover of the first clue.

13h00 to 18h00 — The hunt. Your Kino Congo driver drives, you solve. Five hours of puzzles, photos, racing against the clock and discovering neighbourhoods and landmarks that few Kinois truly know. Snacks and drinks on board.

18h00 to 20h00 — Closing drinks at a restaurant. Final time count, official team photo, your time joins the edition leaderboard.

The leaderboard and the podium

Each Wednesday, a new team enters the Summer 2026 Edition board, published weekly on the Kino Congo website and on Instagram. On 26 August, after the ninth team has played, the podium is crowned.

  • 1st place — The grand prize. Kino Congo weekend at the Zongo Falls (Seli Safari Resort) for all 6 players: transport, accommodation and programme included. Champion's belt presented to the team and a Kino Congo Treasure Hunt edition T-shirt for each player.
  • 2nd place — The tasting. Private evening for 6 players at Bonbon Kinshasa, wine bistro at Galerie La Fontaine in Gombe. Plus a Kino Congo Treasure Hunt edition T-shirt for each player.
  • 3rd place — The jersey. A Kino Congo Treasure Hunt edition T-shirt for each player.

The puzzles, checkpoints and solutions of the course remain confidential after the hunt, with no expiry date. Each team is free to share the experience — the atmosphere, the anecdotes, the laughs, the neighbourhoods explored — but agrees not to reveal the puzzles or the exact location of the checkpoints. This allows teams playing in late August to discover the hunt with the same freshness as those in July, and preserves the magic of future editions of the Kinshasa Treasure Hunt.
