Mbudi Nature is a tourist park in the Lutendele neighborhood, commune of Mont-Ngafula, about 25 km from Kinshasa city center. Its main draw: a direct view over the Congo river rapids — one of the most striking panoramas accessible without leaving the city.
What to see and do
The site combines nature and relaxation. Around twenty large statues are spread through the park, surrounded by tall shady trees and abandoned termite mounds. Facilities include barbecue areas, a basketball court, a children's play area and a modest restaurant. The rocky beach allows visitors to get close to the river and observe the rapids up close.
Swimming is strictly prohibited — the current is violent at this point. You come here for the view, photography and the calm, not to swim.
Mont-Ngafula: a cluster of natural sites
The commune of Mont-Ngafula has several sites within a short distance of each other. Lola ya Bonobo — the world's first bonobo sanctuary — is in Kimwenza, in the same commune. Symphonies Naturelles in Ngaliema is about twenty minutes away. These three sites make up a full day in nature from Kinshasa, without leaving the right bank of the river.
How to get there
Allow 30 minutes to 1h30 by road depending on traffic from the city center, covering about 25 km. The road to Lutendele is driveable by car. A private driver for the day allows you to follow up Mbudi Nature with Lola ya Bonobo or Symphonies Naturelles without timing constraints.
