The Nsele Valley Park is a 20,000-hectare nature reserve in the commune of Maluku, approximately 50 km from Kinshasa. It is one of the best-equipped natural spaces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo — safari, thrills and lodge accommodation all in one place.
Safari and wildlife
The park is home to lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and antelopes, observable on a guided safari or by vehicle. For diaspora visitors or expatriates discovering Congolese wildlife, it is the most complete experience reachable from Kinshasa in a single day. Children also have a dedicated play area.
The Vol du Faucon zip line
The "Vol du Faucon" (Falcon's Flight) zip line stretches 2.3 km and reaches 130 km/h. It is the longest in Central Africa, crossing the valley over the forest and river — the park's headline activity and often the main draw for groups and families.
Other activities
Beyond the safari and zip line, the park offers: hiking, mountain biking, kayak, pedal boats, horse riding, pools and the Gazebo restaurant. Luxury lodges allow guests to stay overnight for those wanting a full weekend.
The park also hosts weddings, seminars and private events.
How to get there from Kinshasa
The park is about 50 km from Kinshasa city center, in the commune of Maluku, via Route Nationale 1. Allow 1 to 2 hours depending on traffic. A vehicle with driver is recommended for the day — the park is difficult to reach without a personal car.
Along the same route: the Nsele river
Route Nationale 1 towards Maluku runs alongside the Nsele river, lined with several sites. Picasso Beach at Kinkole, Jardin d'Eden and Nganda Yalha are all possible stops along the way. For other nature experiences closer to the city center, Symphonies Naturelles in Ngaliema and Lola ya Bonobo in Mont-Ngafula are the most accessible alternatives.
