DRC travel guide
Find the ideal destination in the DRC
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the second largest country in Africa. Each province offers a radically different experience — from the lively capital Kinshasa to the volcanoes of Kivu, through equatorial forests and world-class national parks.
The DRC at a glance
With 26 provinces and more than 100 million inhabitants, the DRC is a continent-sized country. The Congo River, the second most powerful river in the world, crosses the territory from east to west. The Congolese rainforest, the second largest on the planet after the Amazon, absorbs more carbon than any other tropical ecosystem in Africa.
The main regions to explore
Kinshasa
The capital — over 17 million inhabitants. A city of contrasts, music, colonial architecture and gastronomy. The natural starting point for any trip to the DRC. This is where Kino Congo operates.
Kivu (North and South)
Majestic lakes, mountains, trekking. The Virunga National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most biodiverse area in Africa — is located here. Goma is the gateway to the Nyiragongo volcano.
Katanga / Haut-Katanga
Desert landscapes, copper and cobalt mines, national parks. Lubumbashi is the second city of the country.
Kasaï
Immersion in Kasaian culture, lush landscapes. The region is known for its crafts and traditions.
Équateur
Dense tropical forests, winding rivers. Mbandaka is the regional capital. It is one of the last truly wild territories in central Africa.
Why visit the DRC?
The DRC is not a mass-tourism destination. It is an authentic journey — an immersion through history, nature and human diversity. The hidden treasures of central Africa — its varied landscapes, warm communities, unique biodiversity — are waiting for those who choose to venture here.
